Install Tetracom

Two ways to run Tetracom: the Android app, or the Web App that installs on any phone, tablet, or computer.

Which one should I use? On Android, install the native app below for the fullest experience. On iPhone, iPad, or a computer, the Web App (PWA) is the way to use Tetracom — it installs to your home screen / desktop and runs in its own window, just like a native app. Available in the United States. Other regions coming as they launch.

iPhone & iPad

Safari, iOS / iPadOS 16.4 or newer.

  1. Open tetracom.me/app in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button (the square with an up-arrow).
  3. Choose “Add to Home Screen”, then Add.
  4. Launch Tetracom from the new home-screen icon.
On iPhone / iPad you must add it to the Home Screen to receive notifications, and push requires iOS 16.4+. Running it as a plain Safari tab will not get push alerts.

Android

Chrome (or any Chromium browser).

  1. Open tetracom.me/app in Chrome.
  2. Tap the “Install app” prompt if it appears…
  3. …or open the browser menu (⋮) and choose “Install app” / “Add to Home screen”.
  4. Launch Tetracom from your app drawer / home screen.

Desktop

Chrome or Microsoft Edge.

  1. Open tetracom.me/app in Chrome or Edge.
  2. Click the install icon in the address bar (a monitor / down-arrow on the right side).
  3. Click Install. Tetracom opens in its own window.
The installed app pins to your taskbar / Dock and launches like any desktop program.

  1. Tap Download the Android APK above on your Android phone.
  2. Open the downloaded tetracom.apk file.
  3. If prompted, allow your browser to “install unknown apps”, then tap Install.
  4. Open Tetracom from your app drawer.

SMS Gatewayoptional

A separate, optional companion app that lets one Android phone send ordinary text messages on your behalf. Most people never need it — install it only if you want a dedicated handset acting as an SMS sender.

How to install

  1. Install it on the phone that will send the texts — that phone also needs the Tetracom app above, and its SIM sends the messages.
  2. Open the downloaded tetracom-sms-gateway.apk and tap Install.
  3. Open the Gateway app and grant the SMS permission when asked.
  4. Copy the bearer token shown in the Gateway app, then paste it into Tetracom under Settings → SMS gateway on the same phone, along with the user ID you want to accept SMS jobs from.
  5. Turn on SMS forwarding in those same Tetracom settings.
It stays off until you turn it on. Tetracom ignores SMS jobs unless you enable forwarding and name an authorized sender, so installing this changes nothing by itself.
Leaving it running. Android aggressively stops background apps — Samsung especially. For a phone meant to stay available, grant the Gateway app's battery-optimization exemption when it offers, and leave it plugged in. After a reboot the Gateway restarts itself, but only once the phone has been unlocked at least once.
The Gateway app talks only to the Tetracom app on the same phone, over the device's own internal loopback address — which is not reachable from the internet, from your Wi-Fi, or from any other device. It listens there and nowhere else, and it never sends anything out to the network itself.
