Tetracom Help — Xiaomi / Redmi / Poco
MIUI / HyperOS battery optimization (the most aggressive Android)Setup steps
Step 1 — turn on Tetracom’s “Stay connected” toggle
- Open Tetracom → gear icon.
- Scroll to Connection.
- Turn ON Stay connected when phone is locked.
Step 2 — Battery saver: No restrictions
- Settings → Apps → Manage apps → Tetracom
- Tap Battery saver.
- Choose No restrictions.
Step 3 — Autostart: ON
This is where MIUI / HyperOS differs. Even with battery unrestricted, “Autostart” gates whether the app can start its own services after boot or after being foreground- suspended. Without it, Tetracom’s connection service can’t restart after MIUI suspends it.
- Settings → Apps → Permissions → Autostart
- Find Tetracom → turn ON.
Step 4 — Lock the app in Recents
- Open the recent-apps view (gesture or button).
- Find Tetracom; pull down on its preview.
- Tap the padlock icon to Lock the task.
Locked tasks survive the “Clear all” button — most people accidentally swipe Tetracom away while clearing other apps, which kills the foreground service.
Step 5 — Background activity: Allowed
- Settings → Apps → Manage apps → Tetracom → Other permissions
- Find Display pop-up windows running in background → turn ON.
- Find Show on Lock screen → turn ON.
- Find Start in background → turn ON.
Step 6 — MIUI Memory optimization: turn off (HyperOS) / Don’t kill on lock screen
Newer HyperOS has a “Memory extension” that clears foreground services after the screen has been off for a few minutes. Turn it down or off:
- Settings → Battery → Battery saving features
- Turn OFF MIUI memory optimization (or tap and add Tetracom to the exclusion list).
Quick test
Lock the phone for 10 minutes (longer than other manufacturers because Xiaomi waits longer before the kill). Have a contact send you a blurt. Should arrive within ~3 seconds. If it doesn’t — Step 3 (Autostart) is almost always the cause. Re-check.
Common Xiaomi-specific questions
- I have a Redmi. Same steps?
- Yes. Redmi and Poco are sub-brands of Xiaomi sharing MIUI / HyperOS. Identical menus.
- The persistent notification disappears even though I did all 6 steps.
- Two known causes. First — “Notification shade” style: Settings → Notifications and Control center sometimes hides notifications from the “Tetracom — running” channel after a day. Re-enable the channel from there. Second — “Power saving mode”: if Power Saver kicks in (battery below 20%), foreground services are suspended. Charging usually fixes it.
- Will future MIUI / HyperOS updates break this setup?
- Possibly — Xiaomi tightens the noose with every release. The steps above worked as of HyperOS 1 (Android 14). If you upgrade to a newer HyperOS and find Tetracom dropping again, re-check all six steps; menu paths sometimes shift.
Model-specific pages: not yet — the differences between Mi 13, Redmi Note 13, Poco F5, etc. are negligible at the Settings level once the above steps are done.
