Common questions
- How do I keep my phone from killing the connection while I’m not looking?
- Tap your manufacturer above for step-by-step instructions. In short: open Tetracom → Settings → Connection → turn ON Stay connected when phone is locked. That puts a small always-on notification in your status bar — Android won’t suspend Tetracom while it’s there. On Samsung / Xiaomi you also need to remove Tetracom from the manufacturer’s “Sleeping apps” list (the manufacturer page walks you through it).
- How do I change the sound for incoming blurts?
- Settings → Notifications. You can pick from 10 built-in sounds (including the sender’s userid in Morse code, the YYZ Morse pattern, walkie squelch, a single chime, and more), or choose a file from your phone, or record a few seconds yourself. Each contact can override the default — open the contact and look for Notification override for this contact.
- How do I add another identity?
- Tap the user-circle icon in the top-right of the main screen, then Add another identity. Each identity has its own contacts, keys, and inbox. The user-circle badge shows how many blurts are queued for your non-active identities.
- I missed a blurt — where does it go?
- Anything sent to you while you’re offline is queued on the Tetracom server for up to 24 hours. Open the app and the queued blurts arrive within a second or two. History — on the History tab — keeps everything you’ve received.
- How do I send my location?
- Settings → Location → turn ON Send my location with messages. Then in any contact’s detail screen turn on Share my location with this person. Your location goes out with each blurt and they can also “ping” you for it.
- How do I block someone?
- Open the contact, tap Block. Their blurts stop arriving (server drops them silently — they don’t see you blocked them). Tap Unblock on the same screen to undo.
- The microphone isn’t working.
- Android Settings → Apps → Tetracom → Permissions → Microphone → Allow only while using the app. Same for Notifications (so the alert sound + persistent notification work). For the on-mic-recorded notification sound feature you’ll need mic permission while using the app.
- Where’s my version number?
- Top of the main screen, next to the “Tetracom” wordmark. You tapped that to get here.
